How to prepare for an IV drip at home

Medicines, test results, allergies and the place of the visit – what to prepare before we arrive.

Before the visit, prepare information about your health and a quiet place to talk to the staff. You do not need to choose any preparations yourself – the most important thing is complete and up-to-date information.

Prepare medicines, results and recommendations

  • Write down the medicines you take and their doses, including over-the-counter products and supplements.
  • Note any allergies and previous adverse reactions to medicines or infusions.
  • Collect test results, hospital discharge letters and doctor's recommendations.
  • Note when the symptoms started and how they have changed.

When booking, ask whether specific tests are needed for the service. If you are interested in an iron infusion, mention your doctor's recommendations during the first call.

What to tell the staff

Chronic diseases, pregnancy or possible pregnancy, regular medication and any problems during previous procedures. If the visit is about feeling unwell after alcohol, describe the situation honestly – this helps us choose the right help.

Do I need to fast or change my medicines?

Agree on individual recommendations with the staff before the visit. Do not stop medicines on your own or take extra products just to prepare for the drip. If you have fluid restrictions or a special diet, tell us during the call.

Prepare the place and access

Give the full address, flat number, floor and how to enter the building. In a hotel, check the rules for visitors. Prepare a comfortable place and your documents. Tell us in advance about any mobility problems.

What if the condition gets worse?

Do not wait for the planned visit in case of loss of consciousness, seizures or serious breathing problems – call 112. Signs of severe dehydration also need urgent medical assessment.
